Quattro Mani [toh-kai] Lands in the US
DSWE is delighted to announce the arrival of Quattro Mani [toh-kai]. Produced by the skilled hands of Movia’s Aleš Kristancic, [toh-kai] was made entirely from single vineyard, Tocai grapes grown in Movia’s organically farmed Exto Gredic vineyard. The wine is made at the Movia winery in accordance with the biodynamic principles and with the same care and attention that distinguishes Movia wines. Produced from “young vines” (which at Movia means 20+ years), Quattro Mani [toh-kai] is styled to be fresh and fruit forward, without sacrificing quality. “The vine is still young and sometimes does not understand our objective but it is able to show its youth and its freshness. For that reason, it has a short time of maturation so all the character of the wine is based on its primary characteristics,” says Kristancic.

DSWE has developed Quattro Mani, or "four hands", to represent four celebrity winemakers each who express the character and strength of indigenous grape varieties, interpreted through their unique personalities. “The concept is simple, four famous winemakers working with four different native varieties”, said DSWE Founder Paolo Domeneghetti. “We have selected these winemakers for their skill in allowing vineyards to speak through the wine. We have selected the varieties as they express the diversity of regions and their territory’s traditions using sustainable agriculture.”

The iconic Ales Kristancic was recently selected as one of top 12 Wine Creators in the world by a panel of experts made up of twenty of the most internationally renowned critics and his wines can be found on leading wine lists in the US and in Europe. His distinct vision stems from the wisdom of eight generations spent among the vines and in the cellar coupled with a natural intuition toward the relationship between nature, soil, vines, and wine.

Quattro Mani made its debut in 2006 with Montepulciano d’Abruzzo made by Attilio Pagli, acclaimed winemaker at properties such as Valdicava, Altos Las Hormiga, Arnaldo Caprai, Le Terrazze, Moris Farms, and Velenosi. Quattro Mani Montepulciano has been embraced by the wine community, was honored with a Silver Medal from the San Francisco International Wine Competition , and deemed an “excellent value” by publications such as Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate , Wine Spectator , and Wine & Spirits magazine. Quattro Mani Montepulciano is available at retailers nationwide.
